Finalist 3 Released: 24 Hours Later

I finally pulled the trigger and launched the big update. I always fear releasing an undercooked product, which sometimes leads to substantial overcooking. This update was especially fraught, as I’ve been pushing on it slowly since late last year, and have probably rewritten some code three times.

But with iOS 26 coming up fast, and Penbook's big release just around the corner, my hand was forced: Finalist 3 came out yesterday. To sweeten the deal, I offered a $5 Lifetime license during the launch (more on that below).

To say that I've been overwhelmed with the positive reaction would be a massive understatement. People really clicked with what I was trying to accomplish and took the time to share their feedback. Here are just some comments from email and socials over the past 24 hours:

This app is fantastically intuitive and beautifully designed

And a couple of faves, first from someone new to the app:

Started using it on my iPad Air 4 iPadOS 26 and the app looks great, lot of features with an amazing interface, beautiful. Congrats, I've just purchased the Lifetime because it worked for me the way the app looks and feels and also because it fits in what I believe an app to manage my tasks and calendars should be, and I can say I've tried many of it. Congrats again, you deserve it.

...followed by someone who's used the app for a long time. My one goal with every update is not to confuse or annoy existing users as I move the app forward, so it felt great to read this:

Wow, Slaven. You did quite a bit with Finalist 3.0. Great work. It’s come quite a way since those early days. Really well integrated with the calendar and reminders and now habits and journal

The $5 Lifetime deal is still on for a few more days, so if you were considering Finalist, now’s the best time to get onboard. The deal is available from the app's About menu (just tap Get Pro and choose Lifetime). If you have friends or family you think would enjoy it too, please let them know. They can find it at finalist.works.

If you're already a Pro user - thank you so much! You made this possible 😊 If you're on a monthly or yearly subscription, now's a great time to cancel it and grab that Lifetime 😉
