Adding Tasks

Quick entry, the Plus button, task notes, natural language times, and voice capture.

Creating a task in Finalist should feel as natural as writing with a pen. No complex forms, no required fields. Just write what needs doing.

Quick entry

  • Tap below your tasks and start typing. Your task appears instantly on the day you're viewing.
  • Use the Plus button when you want more control: add details, set a specific time or duration, or assign the task to a list.

Natural language times

Type the time right into the task: "Call Sarah at 2pm" or "Workout 7am". Finalist understands and schedules it automatically, with no date pickers and no forms. Write like you think.

Task details

Tap any task to add notes, like scribbling details in the margin. Notes stay hidden until you need them, keeping your daily view clean.

Headings

Tap and hold any task to turn it into a Heading. Headings act like section dividers, helping you organize your days and lists.

Voice capture

Sometimes the best ideas come when your hands are full. Tap the microphone button in the top menu and speak your tasks. Finalist takes dictation while you think out loud, then teases out the actual actionable tasks (or grocery items!) and adds them to your day. Requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence.
